WESTBURY’S Transport and Vintage Vehicle Gathering is back this month on the weekend of Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th April and organisers are ready to welcome back visitors following a gap because of Covid.
On display will be classic and vintage vehicles and machinery including cars, trucks, motor cycles, fire engines, stationary engines and tractors.
The event will take place at the top field of Westbury Road, Bratton BA13 4TT. Tickets are just £2 and kids go free.
Keith Miller, the organiser, said, “We are a small intimate event with the reputation of making people feel at home with their contemporaries of whatever age, but with an interest in all sorts of wheeled vehicles, stationary engines and generally antique contraptions. People attend our gathering from all parts of the British Isles, Wales, Scotland, the North, the South East and the South West.
“All are welcome, we refuse to charge exhibitors an entry fee and parking is free. All child visitors/ spectators are free but we do charge adults the princely sum of £2 which incidentally is the same charge we made at our first event 26 years ago.
“Our first event was held on the grounds of the Westbury Car Auctions behind the railway station in 1996 some 26 years ago”, Keith added. “We have held an event each year, excepting for Covid, ever since, making us one of the longer running events in this area.
“For the last period of time, we have held our gathering on our own land at the top field of Westbury Road, and this will be the location for this year’s event on Saturday April 23rd and Sunday April 24th. Should anyone wish to join us, all they have to do is to turn up at the Gathering.
“The Trowbridge to Devizes bus via Bratton will stop at the door on the Saturday if requested.
“If anyone wishes to have any further information, I can be contacted on 01373 864 166 or 07516 599179.”
