The Westbury and District French Twinning Association celebrated Bastille Day, the French national day, with an event featuring music, cheese and wine.
Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille in 1789, which marked the beginning of the French Revolution, and is celebrated as a national holiday in France.
Members of the twinning association were joined by Mayor Carole King at The Laverton, where guests enjoyed a selection of cheese and wine along with live music from Sophie Eden.
“Attendees were treated to a nostalgic slideshow highlighting 25 years of twinning between the towns of Westbury and Chateau-du-Loir (now known as Montval-sur-Loir), showcasing memorable moments and friendships formed over the decades,” said secretary Guy Parkinson.
The twinning association hopes to organise an exchange trip to Montval-sur-Loir in April 2027. Anyone interested in joining the group for the trip can contact them on 07712 185798 or email westburytwin@btinternet.com.
