TWO major music artists will be lighting up the town’s first ever music and gin festival on Saturday 28th May at The View – the former White Horse Country Park.
Scouting for Girls, a hugely popular indie three-piece band, and Artful Dodger, the dynamic UK garage duo, will be performing at what is expected to be a sell-out event at The View alongside a selection of local acts to be confirmed, kicking off at 2pm and ending at 2am.
Organisers say to expect a day full of live acts, a fun fair, lots of kids’ entertainment, a whole variety of different street foods and drinks to try and not to mention lots and lots of gin!
Jordan Daykin, from The View, said “I am very excited to be hosting our first ever Gin Festival at The View! It’s going to be a night to remember for sure. We have lots of great local acts, craft gin distilleries, a load of kids’ entertainment and not to mention our two headline acts, Artful Dodger and Scouting for Girls. Scouting For Girls had their 2007 self-titled album go on to become platinum and launched the generation-bridging anthems of ‘She’s So Lovely’, ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’ and ‘Heartbeat’. They’ve picked up nominations for four Brits, an Ivor Novello and played everywhere from a sold-out Wembley Arena to countless festival stages.
The British garage duo, Artful Dodger, was started by Mark Hill and Pete Devereux in 1997 in Southampton, taking their name from a character in the Charles Dickens book Oliver Twist. Before their debut album, It’s All About The Stragglers, dropped in late 2000, they were responsible for the epic tune ‘Re-Rewind’ with Craig David, which provided the launchpad for his solo success.
Under 5’s can enter for free, under 18’s tickets are £15, general admission is £30, family tickets are £75 (two adults and two kids), VIP admission is £50 (access to VIP area with bar, dance floor, food stalls and luxury toilets and under-18’s VIP admission is £30).
