TWO Westbury Rugby Club Juniors have progressed to National Level Rugby at under 18s
Cerhys Gould has been named in the England Ladies’ Under 18s squad and Liam Parker has been selected for the USA Rugby Under 18s Academy. Both players started playing rugby in the Junior section of Westbury RFC.
Cerhys progressed her rugby by way of the Warminster Pink Panthers and a spell at Chippenham RFC, before being selected for the Ladies’ County side. She is currently in the Gloucester Centre of excellence and was awarded a scholarship at Hartbury College based on her rugby ability, where she has continued with her rugby career.
Liam Parker moved to San Diego with his family when he was 11 years old. He quickly took to American Football where he represented his high school at every age group, and he also continued with his rugby. His current club, Thunder Rugby, are USA National under 18 champions.
Liam is also a member of San Diego Legion Rugby’s Academy. The Legion is the professional team playing major league rugby, and he has now been named as a player in the USA Rugby under 18 Academy.
Club President, Paul Couzens said, “Westbury Rugby Club congratulate both of the players and wish them every success in their careers.
“Liam says he would love to come back to Westbury to play in a game for the club, whilst Cerhys was regularly seen at the club, back in the summer, putting the 1st XV through their fitness regime.”
