The Wylye Valley Art Trail is a 9-day celebration of arts and crafts in and around this area of Wiltshire. Taking place every other year, the 2017 event will run from Saturday 27th May to Sunday 4th June, and once again, Fairfield Farm College in Dilton Marsh will be taking part (Venue #25).
The college itself is going to become an artwork. Villagers and college supporters from the surrounding area are busy knitting and crotcheting, ready to yarn-bomb the buildings. Local artist, Hazel Chapman, will be exhibiting some of her stunning landscape paintings, whilst the students have been busy creating mosaic work and mixed media paintings.
Fairfield Farm is a specialist college for students with learning disabilities, located in the village of Dilton Marsh. It is a registered charity, with residential, day and weekend courses. The 26-acre farm site includes well-resourced teaching and vocational learning areas, a student common room, conference room, café and a farm shop – so you can do some shopping, as well as having coffee and cake after your visit!
It is hoped that the publicity this event attracts will help Fairfield Farm’s appeal to raise £140,000 to build an indoor arena, which will be used by students working with horses on a daily basis, as well as for competing. The arena would also benefit the disabled and wider community for riding, dog agility and other events.
