THE Three Daggers in Edington has been named the AA’s pub of the year in England.
The staff were invited to an awards ceremony at The Grosvenor House in Mayfair London to accept the award last month, which was hosted by newsreader Kate Silverton.
On winning the award, Richard Smith, general manager at The Three Daggers said, “It is fantastic news, a real testament to the hard work of all involved and a huge boost to both Edington and Wiltshire. It’s all due to the hard work on the ground.
“We were invited to Grosvenor House in Mayfair to the awards ceremony which was absolutely amazing. There were over 1,000 people there; some very famous faces! The awards were hosted by newsreader, Kate Silverton, and we all had a great meal.
“Each year, we are inspected throughout the year as part of the AA association for our bed and breakfast and our restaurant, so we were automatically on their radar. So I guess the inspectors liked what they saw and put us up for the award, which is a great honour.
“The team and I have had a couple of glasses of champagne to celebrate and we hope to have a small celebration together soon.
“The pub is now getting ready for the Christmas period, hosting Christmas parties from December 1st and have a few other things planned – so watch this space!”
About the award, AA said, “The winner is selected with the help of our AA inspectors. These pubs stand out for being great all-rounders, combining a convivial atmosphere, well-kept beers and ciders, excellent food, and of course, a warm welcome from the friendly and efficient hosts and their staff.”
