WESTBURY’S young people will be celebrated again this year as nominations open for the Westbury Young People Awards.
Nominations are open now with a brand new category for the Young Environmental Champion of the year.
To make a nomination you visit www.youngwest bury.org.uk and click on ‘make a nomination’.
Graeme Morrison, community engagement manager for Westbury and organiser of the awards said, “Nominations can be made by anybody – parent, teacher, group leader, family member, sibling, friend or anyone else so if you know a Young Person (aged up to 19 years old or up to 25 years old with a learning disability) who is from anywhere in the Westbury Community Area (including Westbury and the villages of Heywood, Hawkeridge, Dilton Marsh, Bratton, Edington and Coulston) that you feel deserves recognition for what they have done this year, you can nominate them today.
“The new Environmental Champion of the Year award is open to individuals or groups of young people who have done outstanding work relating to improving the local environment and/or encouraging local action to combat climate change.
“The glitzy awards ceremony will, once again, be hosted by Matravers School and will take place in the evening on Wednesday 10 June. We are very grateful to Matravers for agreeing to host the awards again. It is the perfect venue and they always do a great job with hosting the event.

“We would like to thank Martin and Co, Gooding Accounts and the White Horse News who have already confirmed they will be supporting the awards again in 2020.
“This event could not go ahead without the generous support of numerous local businesses. We are speaking with all of last years sponsors about supporting the event again.
“However, even if all of the sponsors from last year agree to continue their support in 2020 we will still have one sponsorship slot available, so if you are a local business and would like to get involved, please contact me on 07986 365943 or graeme. morrison@wiltshire.gov .uk to discuss.”
