Folk singer/songwriter Seth Lakeman, who will be featuring in this year’s Village Pump Folk Festival in Westbury, played at the Royal Albert Hall on BBC Radio 2’s ‘D-Day 70 Years On’.
Seth played the song ‘King & Country’ with the BBC Concert Orchestra, on Friday 6th June, which he wrote about his grandfather who took part in the D-Day landings. This song appeared on his gold-selling album Freedom Fields.
The commemorative concert also featured performances from Katherine Jenkins, Patrick Stewart and Dame Vera Lynn. The concert supports three service charities, The Royal British Legion, SSAFA (National Armed Forces Charity) and SkillForce.
Seth collaborated with the BBC Concert Orchestra back in March 2012 and released a 5-track mini-album of live recordings from a performance at Plymouth Pavilions. They performed new arrangements of five of Seth’s classic tracks, including King & Country.
Seth will be playing at the Village Pump Folk Festival on Sunday 27th July. The full line-up and festival details can be found at www.villagepumpfolk festival.co.uk
