Westbury’s Poppy Appeal has raised over £13,000 for the Royal British Legion (RBL) during November.
The Westbury Poppy Appeal organiser, Dave Calder, praised local people for their generosity.
“I would like to express my gratitude to residents of Westbury and the surrounding area who have donated a very significant amount of money,” he said.
“The poppy is a symbol of remembrance, and many of those who wear a poppy do so to remember friends and family who have served in His Majesty’s Forces, many of whom gave their lives for our freedom. Their service and sacrifice should never be forgotten.”
The Royal British Legion is the country’s largest Armed Forces charity. Funds raised from the Poppy Appeal help the charity provide lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.
“Thanks are also extended to the proprietors of businesses and other locations in Westbury who allowed donation cans and poppies to be readily available,” said Dave.
“Finally, a very special thanks to the volunteers who gave up their time to assist in collecting donations. Their support in achieving the amount raised is really appreciated.”
