Westbury volunteer, Pat Girdler, took to the streets of Melksham recently to fundraise for the charity Brooke, in aid of working horses and donkeys.
Often with a friendly rivalry with other local Brooke volunteers, such as Roger Challoner Green from Trowbridge, the aim for Pat is to collect as much money as possible for the charity.
This occasion saw her parade the town centre of Melksham with Mini Fat Pony, also known as Mrs Small, a 14-year-old Shetland pony whose job is to be the ‘Mary Poppins’ of the Shetland world and care for younger ponies.
Petra Ingram, chief executive of Brooke, Action for Working Horses and Donkeys said, “Charities like this rely on their volunteers. We are glad to have dedicated and long serving volunteers like Pat here at Brooke.”
