ALL Saints’ Church is looking for volunteers and you don’t need to be a churchgoer to get involved.
“The church is available for all those living in Westbury; it’s not just a place of worship but also a community space that has served Westbury for centuries,” said churchwarden, Beth Thomas. “The responsibility for taking care of it falls on a small number of people, many of whom are elderly.
“The congregation of All Saints’ welcomes people to support its work. You don’t need to be a churchgoer but just want to see the building and the community that support it thrive.
“Volunteers are needed to help keep the church clean and tidy, carry out routine maintenance and take care of the churchyard. The church has regular ‘work parties’ which are normally on a Saturday morning and are friendly gatherings which always involve a cup of tea or coffee and a natter as well as some hard work.”
The plans for the redevelopment of the Parish Hall which has been at the heart of life in Westbury for nearly 150 years are moving ahead. The church needs additional people to take their ambitious plans forward including fundraising, finance and project management skills.
The church also has a specific vacancy for someone with management accounting skills to support the finance team. The amount of involvement can depend on your level of commitment, so if you think this is something that might be of interest get in touch to discuss.
Revd Rebecca Harris, the Team Rector said: “All Saints’ is Westbury’s Parish church and available to all at important times in people’s lives like births, marriages and deaths and open every day for anyone to enjoy. Why not get involved and support us to continue keeping the church open for everyone.
“We also hold community events like the Summer Fair and the Christmas Tree Festival and are always looking for helpers.”
If any of these are of interest why not get in touch with the Churchwarden Beth Thomas wcw@whtministry.org.uk for a chat? Alternatively come along to a volunteer event on Saturday 5th February at 10am.
