WESTBURY Walkers’ Philip Lock and John Parker led an 8.5 mile walk from Chittoe on Sunday the 11th August.
Eighteen walkers set off from Chittoe Heath and walked through Chittoe village and along the edge of Spye Park to cross the road to Lacock at Bowden Hill. They then headed north, crossing Naish Hill and then descending and ascending steep slopes to cross Cockiemore Brook and reach Derry Hill.
Passing through the Golden Gates, the group entered the Bowood Estate and skirting the golf course where they stopped for lunch, walked alongside the lake, before following the path by the edge of the woods to Sandy Lane. Passing the interesting wooden church in Sandy Lane, they soon picked up the old road back to their starting point. Aside from a ten minute shower by the lake, the weather was very pleasant.
