Wed. 20th November. Toolstation Prem. Div. Westbury United 1 Street 1
A highly entertaining match at Meadow Lane but all Westbury had to show for their efforts was Sam Jordan’s wonder goal.
There were plenty of chances at both ends early on with Sam Jordan, Callum Demkiv and Joe Stradling going close for United, while visiting captain, Kameron Andrews, fired wide twice.
The hosts took the lead in spectacular fashion on 15 when Sam Jordan received the ball 35 yards from goal and unleashed a wonderful dipping volley that flew into the net!
Street keeper Liam Norris saved from Ryan Bole at the end of a great move.
Street drew level on 36 when full back Lewis Dix burst forward and the ball was then played in from the left to Callum Thomson who beat his marker to the ball and finished past Ed Baldy.
Ricky Hulbert had a chance to regain United’s lead just before half time but after latching onto Baldy’s long kick, he lifted it over Norris and the crossbar.
Westbury were slow to start after the break and Baldy did well to save from Thompson. Bole was having another impactful match and his delivery found Stradling whose shot was deflected wide ; Bole swung in the corner and the ball cannoned off the bar.
Street’s Pat O’Halloran came to the fore around the hour, firstly sending in a fine cross which was headed away by Jordan Pinder, then hitting a fine drive just wide.
In between these chances, United began to create opportunities at will and really should have clinched victory. Callum and Dan Demkiv ran riot but were simply unable to apply an accurate finishing touch to any of six breaks.
With time running out, the Street back line resorted to cynical fouls which gave Bole the chance to send in several set pieces, but both were dealt with by Norris.
