WESSEX Midsummer Vintage show is finally coming back, following a three-year gap due to Covid and bad weather, and the show is being staged in Westbury’s White Horse Country Park.
Visitors can expect to see a huge variety of vintage cars, tractors, motorbikes and static engines on the Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June at the White Horse Country Park, Coach Road, Westbury BA13 4LX. Tickets are £6 for adults and accompanied children (under 14) can get in for free. The show will be raising money for the Children’s Hospice South West.
There will also be a range of entertainment for people to enjoy on the weekend, such as live music, bars and food stalls, and this year, there will also be a raft marquee, with a range of talented stallholders – provided by Enosis Events.
The Wessex Midsummer Vintage Show started in 1977 when a small group from the newly-formed Wessex Stationary Engine Club (WSEC) held a rally at Kilmersdon Hill. In the following years, WSEC exhibited at the Camerton Rally, held rallies at Longleat, including the first 1000 Engine Rally, underground at Monkton Farleigh, and Cheddar football ground, where they stayed until 1991.
WSEC found that they were outgrowing the football ground, so they moved to a field in Semington, where they stayed until 2018. After being rained off in 2019 and cancelled due to Covid in 2020 and 2021, the group are now planning their latest show at the White Horse Country Park, and the show is still organised by a small but enthusiastic group of volunteers.
