Westbury won their 5th game in a row, to put them 3 point behind league leaders Marshfield, who they play away next week. A win there and then wins against the three bottom teams which follow will see Westbury promoted.
After winning the toss Westbury openers Mills and McDonald found it difficult to get the Swindon attack away, and with runs coming slowly, the returning Brannon Varley was promoted to 3 after the loss of Mcdonald on 40. Varley then scored quickly along with Mills put on 90, this then got the momentum up and after 50 overs posted a competitive 231/8 – Varley 63 and Mills 54, Ben Whiting also chipped in with a quick-fire 44.
Swindon also found it difficult to score runs and lost wicket regularly. Oakley with 2 wickets for 14 and Carroll also 2 wickets for 21 runs did the damage to Swindons run chase. Varley chipped in with 2 wickets and the occasional off spin of Tom Lucas got Swindons two danger men, thier overseas player Baartmaan stumped and Williamson who had just posted a half century caught in the deep.
Swindon all out for 168, Westbury win points 10, batting points 5 and bowling points 5.
Thanks to 11 year-old Ollie Willis for his first stint of scoring for the first team.
