Fearless & Fun Art held its first public exhibition in Westbury last month, showcasing the work of local artists who have been attending the studio’s small-group art sessions.
The exhibition featured a range of paintings created by local people with little or no previous experience, many of whom joined the sessions seeking a creative outlet or a break from everyday pressures. Over a period of weeks, the artists developed their skills and produced finished pieces which were displayed to family, friends and members of the community.
The studio was founded by artist Kim Heath, who said the response to the exhibition had been overwhelmingly positive.
The exhibition also marked Kim’s own debut as an exhibiting artist. Her work included floral acrylic paintings as well as landscape-inspired pieces influenced by coastal and marshland scenery.
“When I started Fearless & Fun Art, I wanted to create a space where people felt safe to explore their creativity, regardless of experience,” she said. “To see these artists standing beside their work, proud enough to exhibit it, has been incredibly emotional.
“I never imagined it would grow like this. The groups are intentionally small, with a maximum of six people, so everyone gets time, encouragement and support. What has surprised me most is the friendships that have developed. People arrive as strangers and leave as friends, united by the simple act of creating something beautiful.
“With classes limited to just six people, Fearless & Fun continues to grow as a place where creativity, friendship and wellbeing come together, proving that anyone can paint when given the confidence to try.”
Following the success of the first exhibition, further sessions and workshops are planned as the studio continues to grow.
