A BLOGGER from Westbury is celebrating the recent growth of his website. He now wants to encourage inspiring writers and bloggers to take the plunge and give writing a go.
Pete Rodwell’s pop culture website www.skatronixxx.com has gone from strength to strength since the White Horse News featured a story last year about his celebrity interviews.
He now has seven regular writers working with him, who come from various locations including, London, America and Canada. He is also in discussion with someone in Australia who also may join the team.
Pete said, “I’ve been looking to expand the site for a couple of months, and so 2016 was going to be a make or break year for me.
“I think the main reason the website has grown so quickly is because areas of pop culture such as comics and movies, are the ‘in thing’. With films such as Deadpool, Batman V Superman and Captain America: Civil War coming out this year, people are more interested in these genres than ever.
“I also think by giving the platform to anyone no matter their writing experience, age or background, I’m attracting more people who are willing to give writing a go.”
Pete’s latest brush with showbiz was his interview with Robin Shelby who played Slimer in Ghostbusters 2. Pete said, “Interviewing Robin was great fun, she is such a nice lady and it meant that much more being able to interview one of my childhood heroes, Slimer.
“I have a few interviews that I’m currently doing with people from shows such as Star Trek, WWE wrestling and Storage Hunters as well as other authors.”
Pete is now fundraising via crowdfunding website Indiegogo to be able to buy podcast equipment, so he can launch a series of podcasts covering a wide range of subjects.
Pete said, “I hope other writers and bloggers will see what I have achieved and be inspired to give it a go. Blogging is liberating. I started my site in January 2015 as a hobby and just as a way to fill spare time. I now have over 10 people writing for me and have been invited to events and members of the press and interviewed and gotten to know various famous people who I now count as my friends. If I can do it, you can do it, don’t give up on your dreams. If you don’t know where to start you can always contact me and I’ll help any way I can.”
