Children’s charity Barnardo’s is hoping for a warm welcome in Westbury after opening its newest shop in the region.
The store, at Palomino Place on Leigh Park, is helping to raise money for vulnerable children across the UK.
The premises had previously been empty, but the charity hopes it will be a huge success thanks to being located in the same rank of shops as Tesco Express, and with plenty of free parking directly outside.
Barnardo’s is now keen to receive donations including good-quality clothing, books, DVDs, toys, games, accessories and homeware, as well as offers of help from potential volunteers.
Barnardo’s area business manager Emma King said, “We are delighted to open our newest shop in Wiltshire, making it even easier for local people to bring donations or buy a bargain.
“Supporters will be helping to raise much-needed funds to aid the charity’s work with children and young people who have been affected by poverty, abuse, disability and discrimination.”
The charity is now looking for local volunteers who can spare a few hours a week to help the staff with sorting stock and serving customers.
Emma added, “We hope to become an important part of the local community. Volunteering provides valuable work experience for those seeking employment, as well as a great opportunity to make new friends.
“We hope the people of Westbury will help us to give a brighter future to disadvantaged children and young people.”
The Barnardo’s shop is open Monday-Saturday from 9.00am-5.30pm and Sundays from 10.00am-4.00pm. Call: (01373) 822515.
Locally, the charity is responsible for children’s centres in Corsham and Calne, a nursery in Chippenham, a visitor centre which support families visiting HMP Erlestoke, and a short-breaks service for disabled children and young people across the county.
