Westbury boxer to make professional debut

Westbury boxer, Megan Redstall, is making history on Saturday 18th April in Swindon when she makes her professional boxing debut. 

19-year-old Megan is the first professional female boxer to come out of West Wilts. 

Megan trains out of the Contender Gym in Melksham under trainer/manager Mark Kent. He says that Megan is a role model for young female athletes not only in boxing but in any sport where you can break social barriers and goals. 

Megan said, “Being a boxer doesn’t make me manly, I still get my hair, nails and eyelashes done – hence my fight name Megan “Lashes” Redstall”.  

Megan is also attending university studying to be a paramedic. 

She also helps out at the Contender Gym on a Saturday morning with their Out Box Bullying programme. Megan explained, “This is an amazing programme for those that have confidence issues or have been victims of bullying. 

“I’ve seen children of all ages develop skills and confidence to the point that one young lad now trains alongside the pros in the gym. It’s very rewarding  for all of the boxers at the gym. Even local business, Trowbridge Ford, have got behind this programme.” 

In 2019 Megan applied for and was granted her professional boxing licence with the British Boxing Board of Control. 

The gym says, “Exciting times are ahead for Megan.”
