WESTBURY Celtic FC have announced they are now sponsored by the local wheelchair and powerchair specialists, Mobility Works.
The football club walked out proudly with their new shirts, emblazoned with their new sponsor, during the first game of the season this month.
The club’s treasurer, Kevin Pearce, wanted to thank the financial support the club received from Mobility Works, “Without the help from our sponsor we simply wouldn’t have been able to join the league. The club was set up thanks to the hard work by the manager Zac but the money provided to us by Mobility Works is what allowed us to enter into the league. The company said that they are keen to support the young people of Westbury and want to encourage as many young men as possible to have fun on a Sunday morning.
A spokesperson for Mobility Works said, “Westbury Celtic approached us to see if we would like to help support their team, we felt this was the right time for us to help and support a local team and were more than happy to purchase them a kit for the club. We know many of the players and are proud of what they have achieved in putting this team together. There are many hoops and obstacles to get through to produce a team and we wanted to help and support them with this. We know that they will do well as they are very driven and dedicated. We wish them all the best in their league and we will try and attend as many of the matches as we can.”
Kevin Pearce added, “The newly established Sunday league team kicked off in style, making the most of their new look and fresh legs – but the team would not have kicked off at all if the club’s founders, Zac Pearce, Camron Rush, Will Doust and chairman and Westbury United legend, Marc Lanfear, had not put in countless hours of work.”
Westbury Celtic took on Warminster Athletic in their first ever league game and it was an explosive way to kick off their season. Warminster took the lead after netting an early opener, but Westbury quickly drew level. The next 20 minutes were chaos, with Celtic conceding three.
The second half was a different story altogether, as super-sub Jake Kingston scored just two mins after coming on. Captain Chris Steele followed this up with a freekick that found its way into the back of the net. Warminster scored their fifth thanks to a well worked goal but once again Westbury Celtic found a response. Trailing just by one in the 90th minute, a free kick saw most of the team make their way into box, resulting in a cool finish and a hattrick by the captain to level the scores.
