2018 been a year of change and progress for Dilton Marsh Parish Council.
“The Chair of nine years stepped down and sadly two long-serving members resigned, so there are currently two vacancies.
“The PC owns the playing field and the Firs – much valued assets for the community – and will be working on improvements, maintenance and further development in both areas. The new play area and timber trail have been completed and feedback is generally very positive although sadly, there are occasional reports of misuse.
“The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group is forging ahead after a short lull over the summer. The group will be looking at developing a plan for the future, looking at the issues that are important to all residents, including planning, traffic and transport and environment.
“A major project at present is to establish a PC website. This will give access to a wide range of information about the village with links to social media, sources of information and the work of the Parish Council.
“There’s always plenty to work on, which involves liaising with other organisations such as Wiltshire Council and the police. We have now purchased a defibrillator which will be installed outside the Memorial Hall in January – and will be arranging awareness raising sessions.
“Keeping the village clean and tidy is a major aim; there is now a regular litter pick and visits from the Parish Steward. Dog fouling is a major concern, even though there are bins available and there have been several instances of fly tipping. Speeding traffic and inconsiderate parking continue to be of great concern. It’s important that all residents are vigilant and supportive in caring for our lovely village.
“The Parish Council welcomes contact from residents, both positive and negative. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month, with the agenda published in advance and minutes soon after. We wish all residents the very best for 2019 and look forward to working with you.”
