Westbury Choral Society’s Spring Concert

Rehearsals are well under way for Westbury Choral Society’s Spring Concert which promises to be one of the most ambitious of recent years.

A spokesperson from the choir said, “The main work will be John Rutter’s requiem, with Mary Pope as soloist, performed with instrumental accompaniment.

“The Rutter Requiem is such a beautiful work, we felt we must have the orchestral accompaniment called for in the score, in addition to  the usual organ, to do the piece full justice.”

The programme  will also include Vivaldi’s  joyous  ‘Gloria,’ as well as number of smaller works including Karl Jenkins’ ‘Adiemus’ and ‘No More Sorrow’ by Will Todd.”

The spring concert will take place at Westbury Methodist Church on Saturday 16th April, when the society hopes to at least match the record audience it enjoyed at its Christmas concert.

Tickets/programmes are £8 (accompanied children free) and will be on sale shortly.

Also, the choir is pleased to say a coffee morning that took place earlier this month organised by members, was  well supported and raised over  £150, despite appalling weather. The money is a welcome addition to their funds.
