A FILM of Westbury town centre’s traffic congestion was recorded during July’s protests against the incinerator which protestors say will exacerbate existing road and pollution issues.
Local resident Alexander Prowse recorded “Westbury – A Polluted Town In Wiltshire” on the A350 on the mornings of 15th and 16th , which can be seen on YouTube at https://youtu.be/ 4otL51ON-kA
On Thursdays in July protestors gathered with signs and banners and crossed the road, to highlight the worsening effect the gasification plant, approved by Wiltshire Council for Northacre Industrial Park, will have.
Alexander said, “The film in two parts is the latest addition to the YouTube channel www.youtube.com/ user/WhiteHorseWestbury/videos – a collection of videos recording major events in the town over recent years.
“The aim of ‘Westbury – A polluted town in Wiltshire’ is to enable people to see for themselves the existing threatening flow of traffic and heavy goods vehicles rumbling through the narrow streets of the town, in places just a few feet from front doors and windows, and the danger to pedestrians, and the views of local residents – all of which will be exacerbated should the monstrous, old-fashioned incinerator with its very close proximity to the town go ahead.”
