The Westbury Festival is underway, bringing the town to life with two weeks of live entertainment.
Running from 14th to 27th July, this year’s festival features a vibrant mix of events – from music performances to history walks, from workshops to family-friendly sessions.
Highlights include a top comedy night featuring national stand-up acts, free lunchtime concerts, evenings of opera and jazz and hands-on arts and crafts sessions.
There’s something for everyone – whether it’s Festival Rhyme Time for little ones, a ukulele workshop, vintage-themed afternoon tea, or the one-woman show Where is Mrs Christie?, which explores the mysterious disappearance of the famous crime writer. The programme also includes a Westbury Heritage Walk, talks on Walking the White Horses, the history of Westbury pubs and ‘Magnificent Women In Their Flying Machines’ plus a pop-up board game café.
“The 2025 Westbury Festival is in full swing, and the town has quite a buzz!” said Festival committee member Lisa McGowan. “From live music, free lunchtime concerts, drama and laugh-out-loud comedy to historical insights, creative workshops and talks on fascinating topics – Westbury Festival is a celebration of culture and community not to be missed.
“Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at www.westburyfestival.org.uk or in person at South West Hearing Care on the High Street.
“If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, please do – your support is essential in keeping the festival thriving year after year. Use it or lose it!
“A heartfelt thank you goes to our sponsors, Westbury Town Council and Bath Domestic Appliances, whose generous support has made this year’s festival possible and to Wiltshire Area Board who gave us a grant for the Afternoon Tea with the Belle Street Singers for our elder town residents.
“Some events are already sold out, but many still need your support, and it would be fantastic to see a completely sold-out programme!”
Unfortunately, the planned Raynor Winn book talk has been cancelled.
In a statement, the Westbury Festival Team said, “We’re very sorry to let you know that Raynor Winn has had to cancel her upcoming event at the Westbury Festival. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, she will no longer be appearing as planned.
“We understand this will be disappointing news for ticket holders, and we’re currently arranging full refunds for all purchased tickets. These will be processed automatically – no action is required on your part.
“Raynor hopes to attend the 2026 Westbury Festival.”
