Sat. 20th July. WEPL Wiltshire Div. Marshfield 103 all out. Westbury 89 all out
Westbury travelled to play runaway league leaders, Marshfield, in the latest West of England League Wiltshire Division 2019 season, hoping to come away with a win and bring the hosts a little bit closer to pack.
Westbury made 4 changes from last week’s home win against Calne with Dan Gill, Aidan Wicks, Andy Carroll ans Matt Bracher coming in for James Haggaty, Kane Scott, Kayleb Gooderson and Alex Senneck.
Westbury won the toss and decided to field. Marshfield batted first and they made a bad start, with half the side out for 55 and they struggled to reach 103 all out with only five batsman reaching double figures. Richard Oakley (4-26 off 10 overs) had the best figures, ably supported by the Westbury spinner Daniel Gill (3-11) and Andy Carroll (2-23).
When Westbury went into bat they made a bad start with 7 wickets falling for just 43 and with the Westbury captain Coles at the wicket, they had a chance, but when with the total reached 89, he was dismissed for 34, caught by Bond off the bowling of the Marshfield spinner, Clist, leaving Marshfield winners by 14 runs and increasing their lead in Division.
