MEMBERS of the Westbury Folk Dance Club have reflected on what has been a busy 2022 with the club hosting their usual weekly dances as well as hosting an event in memory of two former stalwarts of the club.
The club say, “We regularly met every week with a good amount of support from a steady number of members. There were a variety of callers from far and wide with a good selection of dances.
“The highlight of the year was the very successful dance in October in memory of Peter Swan and Roger Polden, two stalwarts of the club. Over 50 dancers were in attendance and danced the evening away to the band of Orion’s Ring. Proceeds of over £500 were raised for the National Youth Folklore Troupe of England (a national youth folk dance troop which promotes folk dancing for young people). Our final dance of the year was our Christmas dance which was enjoyed by all.”
Dancing is back now at the Westbury Leigh Church Hall from 7.30pm to 9.30pm each Thursday.
