WESTBURY United staged a football funday which helped raise £1,700 for Cancer Research UK.
Matty Bown who was Westbury United manager until recently helped organise the event held at the football club which included a youth tournament. The money raised was then presented to Marie Bucknell-Smith from Cancer Research UK.
Matty said, “We are really pleased to have raised so much for a great charity and we hope it can help in some way but it would have been nice to raise more. I would like to thank Jason Curtis who helped arrange the youth tournament side of the day as well as his wife and mine for assisting us in making it a success. Westbury United Football Club were also great letting us use their great facilities and we are hoping to do it again next year and hopefully raise more money.”
Marie Bucknell-Smith said, “I would like yo say a very big thank you to Matty and to all those involved. We rely on the generous donations and efforts of the public and this money will go a long way. It means we can do two clinical trials over two months and so does mean a lot.”
