TWO Westbury children, Olivia Pickford (aged 12) and her friend Abi Chudleigh (aged 11), recently held a cake sale so they could raise enough money to buy a selection of tasty treats and toys for the many residents of Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
Olivia and Abi managed to raise £111 through their cake sale and set off to B&M to buy as many treats and toys as they could. The shop gave the girls a 10% discount, so they could buy even more for the animals in need.
Olivia’s mum, Lesley said, “I’m so, so proud of the girls, and their initiative to do something off their own bats should really be applauded.
“This idea came about as both Abi and Olivia really love animals. Both families, Olivia’s and ours, have rescue dogs and the girls wanted to do something to help the other rescue dogs that haven’t been as lucky as ours.
“The idea they came up with was to donate all their pocket money to Bath Cats and Dogs Home. I thought this was such a sweet idea, but suggested they perhaps do something like a cake sale to raise money from friends and family.
“The girls made the cakes themselves and they turned out great. What was even better is that they sold all of them to raise £111!
“We’ll be going to visit Bath Cats and Dogs Home soon to drop off the items and hopefully see some of the residents.”
