July started off with a hard fought home friendly against Shortwood Lodge Golf Club, with Westbury winning three and a half to two and a half.
George Henderson reported, “Our Seniors Open organised by Dennis Kidd was very successful with 58 entrants; it was won by our own vicar Ian Murray with a great score of 41 points.
“The July medal was won by Brian Fulcher scoring a net 68.
“Rodney Poolman organised an excellent away day for 20 of us at Ashley Wood Golf Club, whilst the course was closed for the Village Pump week.
“Finally we played a friendly against Minchinhampton Old Course at the end of the month, drawing three all, a moral victory for Westbury.”

The August round of the Celia Dowell competition played on Tuesday 5th August was won by Julie Sykes and the runner up was Margaret Adams on a countback from Carol Barton.
Saturday’s Medal competition was won by Carol Barton and the runner up was Margaret Adams.
