For 13 years, local resident Andy Burden has brought Christmas cheer to the community with his dazzling festive light display. Located on the corner of Coach Road near The View and the White Horse Country Park, Andy’s house transforms into a beacon of holiday joy every evening as soon as the sun sets, all in aid of raising money for charity.
Andy’s tradition of dazzling decorations started 20 years ago at his previous home and continued when he moved to Coach Road. “The lights bring smiles to faces and give families something to enjoy together,” Andy says. “It’s a way to spread happiness and do something good for the community.”
This year’s display is bigger and better than ever, featuring a new digital tree that plays music and sends festive greetings to viewers. “It’s been so popular!” said Andy, who co-owns All Drainage Services. “People tell me how much they love it, and I even meet folks from all over the country who’ve seen it while driving along the A350.”
But Andy’s festive lights aren’t just about creating a magical holiday atmosphere – they’re also about giving back. In front of his house stands a white post box, collecting donations for Alzheimer’s Support, a vital local charity. “Every penny donated goes straight to the charity. Last year, we raised over £200, and we’re hoping to exceed that this year,” Andy said.
The cause is close to Andy’s heart. “I know people who’ve experienced Alzheimer’s and dementia, and the work this group does is fantastic. It’s an honour to support them. Over the years, the lights have raised money for various charities; it’s a great way to fundraise for good causes while spreading festive cheer.”
Andy expressed his gratitude to those who have supported the display, including Ben Parrett and Liam Rice, Jordan Daykin and his team at The View, Chris Awdry at Ashton Farms and the wider Westbury community.
“If you’re in the area, don’t miss the display – you can’t really miss us on the corner of Coach Road near The View! And don’t forget to drop a donation in the post box. Anything you can give will make a huge difference. Let’s make this year brighter than ever for everyone.”
