WESTBURY Infant School has unveiled its brand new extension, bringing all the children back under one roof.
Parents and local councillors were invited to a special ceremony to mark the official opening of the school’s brand new extension.
Last year, three mobile classrooms were knocked down to make way for a new building big enough for three new classrooms.
Headteacher Stacey Budge said, “We are all so pleased with the new extension and the children are very excited.
“I passionately believe there is a strong connection between learning and environment and the impact of these new classrooms on the children’s learning is already being seen.
“We have designed the new spaces to be a calm and peaceful environment, using neutral colours and natural materials. Soft lighting, cushions and wearing slippers indoors makes the children feel relaxed, secure and ready to learn.
“I would like to thank everyone in the building team, but especially Arthur Williams the project manager, David Sharp from BTA architects and Keith Salter the site manager. The team worked exceptionally well with the school, taking our wishes and needs into account and as a result the project progressed very smoothly and we couldn’t be more delighted with the result.”
The school was recently awarded a grant from Westbury Town Council of £500 for outdoor storage on the side of the extension.
