School sports day a great success
Westbury Leigh CE Primary School held their sports day with great success on Monday 23rd June.
KS2 took place in the morning with KS1 and EYFS in the afternoon. Across the school the children were placed in house teams and completed a range of activities in their year groups from the fancy dress race to the standing long jump.
The event was well attended by parents, who were able to enjoy a picnic lunch with their children on the school field in the beautiful sunshine.
Meg Croker and Luke Oakes, who organised the event said, “The children competed extremely well, gave it their all and enjoyed taking part. We were lucky enough to have some fantastic year 6’s, who supported the KS1 event and were great models to the younger children.
“A real sense of community spirit was evident throughout, and luckily, the weather was in our favour which really added to the success of the day.
“The winning team were Somerset house and they all received certificates in assembly on Friday morning.
“What a fantastic Sports Day!”
