WESTBURY Lions’ popular Christmas float will not be touring the town this December due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Instead, the local organisation will be arranging for families to meet Father Christmas online in their “Zoom with Santa” sessions.
A spokesperson for the Lions said, “Like everyone else, Santa has been busy working from home this year, and we are all keen to ensure he remains safe so that he can keep his Christmas Eve appointment with all the children who are looking forward to his visit.
“Following the news that Wiltshire will go to Tier 2 for December, Westbury Lions are sad to announce that we will not be able to safely share our traditional Santa Christmas Float experience with the community this year due to restrictions imposed on us that are outside our control.
“We know this announcement will come as a huge disappointment to people this year, but we still want to do our bit where we can. To keep everyone safe, we are planning on holding “Zoom with Santa” sessions for the young families in our community to still get a chance to see him and have a five-minute chat in the run up to Christmas.
“We hope this will still allow the younger families in the community the chance to communicate with Santa before the big day. More news regarding the Zoom sessions will be released shortly.”
