THIS year’s Westbury Model Railway Show has been hailed as a great success, with nearly 200 visitors of all ages attending the event at Paragon Hall last month.
Organised by the West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group, the show featured a range of model railway layouts and activities that delighted attendees throughout the day.
Event organiser Rod Towler said, “It was another wonderful day with happy regular and new visitors enjoying the delights that model railways can bring. The atmosphere in the hall was abuzz with excitement, particularly among the younger visitors who stayed for extended periods to enjoy the various layouts on display.”
A standout feature of the event was the hands-on experience offered to younger attendees. Many were invited to help operate the trains and cars. “It was good to see so many young people at the show,” Rod added.
This year’s show featured a high standard of layouts, including debut 0 Gauge displays and returning favourites. Visitors enjoyed the large 0 Gauge test track, complete with seating, and received modelling advice from experts, including returning Clapham modellers John and Paul.
The event also offered a tombola and refreshments, with organiser Rod Towler praising the hardworking team who served tea, rolls, and cakes, including John’s popular chocolate cake. “Their efforts created such a welcoming atmosphere,” he said.
Rod thanked Barrie for organising the show, exhibitors for engaging with young visitors, and the West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group members for their hard work. “Most importantly, our thanks go to the people of Westbury for their support,” he added.
The show will return next year on Saturday 1st November at the Paragon Hall. Rod said, “This show will be even better than before.”
