Following the recent AGM of Probus Westbury there have been changes to both the committee and the finances.
Chris Saunders, the outgoing Chairman, opened the meeting and quickly got on to the subject of how members pay their fees. Up until now, he explained, there were two elements to the income of Probus here in Westbury; an annual subscription and a meeting by meeting fee. It was agreed by the members following a vote that there should be one consolidated payment paid monthly by standing order. This he said would put us on a stronger financial footing. The vote was carried unanimously.
Moving on to the election of officers there were several changes. Bruce Hewitson becomes Chairman and Chris Saunders takes on the role of Hon. Secretary. Arthur Brookes becomes Vice Chairman, Mike Osborne, a long standing member of the committee stands down. Peter Jane remains as Treasurer and John Sisson carries on as Speaker Secretary. In addition Janet Wain will help organise luncheons and organise club raffles.
There will be changes to the club calendar with more outside visits and other attractive events to look forward to in the coming twelve months.
Chris Saunders in his last act as Chairman wished everyone well and announced that the next speaker on 21st of February will be Ann King and the subject Avebury Manor Reborn. With that, the meeting was closed.
