MEMBERS of the Westbury Quilters recently donated £800.90 to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, using funds raised from two charity coffee mornings throughout the year.
Westbury Quilters are a group of people who meet monthly to enjoy an afternoon of sewing, quilting and social chat, with tea/biscuits and friendship.
Quilter, Maureen Woollard, said, “Every year we try to hold two coffee mornings, during which we have a sales table to raise money for our chosen charity of the year, which for 2023, was Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“We managed to raise the amazing amount of £800.90 for the charity and a cheque was presented at the Air Ambulance Station in Semington on Friday 15th December. We were very grateful to the staff for a most interesting talk explaining the work done using the helicopter and the critical incident cars which was followed by explanations of what goes on in the operations room as well as the work undertaken by the charity side of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“Westbury Quilters meet on the last Tuesday of the month, 1pm to 4pm, at Leighton Recreation Centre in the social room upstairs. We are a very friendly group, with someone always willing to help with any aspect of quilting. We would welcome anyone, experienced quilter or not, to join us. You can come for three months as a visitor at £3 per meeting and then join if you like us! We have arranged a varied programme for 2024 with several speakers when the meetings will be open to all. Our chosen charity of the year for 2024 will be Julia’s House, Devizes.
“If interested, just come along on Tuesday 30th January at 1pm or if you would like more information, contact Maureen Woollard, thewoollards@blue yonder.co.uk or ring 01373 864431.”
