Rotaries are holding a membership evening on 28th May at the Chalford House Hotel for anyone interested in joining a club that raises funds for various projects within our town, country, and internationally.
Sue Ezra reported, “We have undertaken successful and sustainable projects like the cleaning of the White Horse, and this year will be painting all the play equipment in Westbury.
“During the flooding on the Somerset levels we sent volunteers to help with the sorting and distribution from their warehouse in Somerset to the villagers in desperate need.
“We also participated in various street collections over the last year in aid of the Philippines and Marie Curie. The Rotarians have raised money for overseas projects like a clinic in Nepal, building a dam in Kenya and supplying clean water in Indonesia. All these projects have improved the lives of many people.
“We have various talks from guest speakers, activities like walking along the canal path, visits to Bristol Glass and celebrating Shakespeare’s birthday with facts, readings and sonnets. Our programmes are always varied and over the next few months we will be raising money for charities by holding wine tasting, involvement with the two street events in Westbury and an international cuisine evening at the Laverton Hall.
“So why not come along on 28th May, meet us, have a chat and find out more about being a Rotarian and raising money for charities. We will be serving a cold buffet so please contact Jan Green 01373 823759, 07808 843456 or email jaggie99@hotmail.com if you wish to attend. We look forward to greeting you.”
