Matravers School and the Westbury Lions join forces again on Thursday 18th October for another entertaining Young Musician of the Year event.
After a busy round of auditions, 14 finalists have been selected to play in the event, showcasing a wide variety of musical talents, from solo drumming to rock bands to the school orchestra, the choir and vocal duets and trios.
Matravers School said, “This year we have seen a sharp rise in the number of ensembles entering and so this event will seem even busier than usual, as the numbers of performers have literally tripled.”
This year’s judges will include local performer and ex-student Wade Merritt who will give comments about the performances and help to decide the winners of the various categories, as well as performing in the special guest slot after the interval and before the presentations of the awards.
Matravers says, “It certainly promises to be a wonderfully musical and entertaining evening for all the family.”
Young Musician of the Year 2018 will take place on 18th October at 6.30pm in Matravers’ theatre. Tickets are priced at £2 and are available from the Matravers box office on 01373 824283.
