WESTBURY Rugby Club has returned to the pitch following the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Players returned to regular training this week with both its ladies’ and men’s teams back in action.
The club reports, “We as a club are really excited for this as a game of rugby hasn’t been played at Knott Field since 14th March 2020. When we were allowed to have the club open and also allowed to train we have been down in great numbers. We want to keep the momentum we had from last season, especially as we never truly got to celebrate winning the league!
“Although, all this time in lockdown has not been wasted. We as a club have used this time to reflect, restructure and rebuild. Some of our wonderful volunteers have been ensuring that essential maintenance has carried on and utilised this time to start works to improve facilities down at Westbury RFC.
“Even digitally we have restructured all of our social media accounts and rebuilt our club website and again we’ve even managed to start to develop and expand our coaching side as Danny Gould has been appointed as a new backs coach.
“There are some extremely exciting ventures that are going to be happening down at the club, and because the RFU has created its own roadmap, meaning we cannot jump straight into contact, this is the perfect opportunity to take up or get back to playing Rugby.
“However, we have said as a club we are welcoming anyone to come down training, even if you only want to do the fitness side. It’s completely free to train!”
