WESTBURY runner, Fiona Price, set a British record for her age category at the South West Veterans Championships in Brecon, South Wales.
Fiona was competing in the 10,000 metres race and was the first woman across the line in a championship record time of 40 minutes 48 seconds.
Runners can choose to carry on to complete a one hour distance race, aiming to cover the most distance in one hour.
She covered 14,519 metres, a British Record for the Women’s Veteran 46 category.
“It’s a difficult decision to make when you are pacing for two different scenarios in the same race,” Fiona told White Horse News. “The race went really well and I have never set a British record before. I am very pleased with the result. I also haven’t done a race like this before, so it was really good for me.
“Training is going really well and June was a good month for me as there were lots of races for me to enter.”
