Westbury Seniors Golf Captain, Rodney Poolman, reports on their latest matches.
“Our away match against Wincanton resulted in a 3-3 draw. Our winning pairs were Pete Mould/Mike Frowde, Dave Medley/Barrie Jamieson and George Brown/Rodney Poolman. Special mention must be made of Dave Medley’s outstanding performance of 8 under par for the 18 holes.
“The winner of the Seniors August Medal, his first victory, was Richard Foot with a very respectable 62. The runner-up was Brian with 64.
“The Open White Horse Shield was won by Mike Los with 38 points, beating Harold Lidbitter on countback.
“Surprise, surprise our match against Cannington proved to be a great result for Westbury with a 6-0 win. The winning pairs were Steve Turner/Derek Balfour, Dave Gilbert/Dennis Kidd, Barrie Jamieson/George Henderson, Terry Turner/John Williams, George Brown/Colin Booth and John Boniface/Rodney Poolman. This meant the Captain, Rodney Poolman, had won his last 6 matches but again no wine was forthcoming.”
