WITH Christmas fast approaching, local residents are being reminded that there are plenty of great Christmas gift ideas you can pick up in Westbury.
Mayor David Bradshaw is encouraging people to shop locally this Christmas and help the town survive and thrive. Cllr Bradshaw said, “It’s so important to use our shops because if we don’t use them, we will lose them, and that’s when people moan about the town. No one wants to see empty shops, so supporting the ones we do have is essential.
“If people see that the local residents support the shops then they are more likely to want to have a shop here themselves. If they see empty buildings and no one using the town, why would they want to set up shop in Westbury?
“We have a good selection of shops that sell a wide range of goods so I’m sure you can find the perfect Christmas gift in Westbury.”
Lucy Newmarch-Christensen president of Westbury Chamber of Commerce said, “When you’re looking for gifts this Christmas, please start your search with a walk around town, perhaps even on Small Business Saturday on the 5th December. Westbury residents are luckier than many realise when it comes to retail service. There may not be many shops on our High Street, but those we’ve got, by golly, they’re great!
“The stock selection far surpasses what you would expect on a drive across Westbury, and if you still can’t find what you were looking for, why not ask one of the staff?
“There are good Westbury people working in these businesses, they are friendly and resourceful. I know several of our shops attract regular customers from other parts of West Wiltshire (or even further) because the service they get in Westbury is second to none.
“Of course not all of our businesses have retail premises, some can only be found by looking on the internet. There are people working in their homes creating beautiful items you want to give (and receive) as presents.
