MAJOR track renewals at Westbury Railway Station will cause the station to be closed over the Christmas period from Sunday 23rd December to Thursday 3rd January, with replacement buses taking over the services.
During this time no trains will stop at Westbury or Dilton Marsh. Long distance services will run to a reduced timetable, with additional stops at Frome for road transport to/from Westbury.
Replacement buses between Trowbridge and Warminster will be available. Services to/from Weymouth and the West of England will continue to run without stopping at Westbury.
Great Western Railway say, “If you’re planning to get away for Christmas, we recommend you do so by Saturday 22nd December.
“This is before the rail improvement work starts, so there will be more trains to choose from and your journey won’t be affected by diverted services, additional changes or rail replacement coaches.
“Check your return dates carefully, because upgrade work continues on some routes into the New Year.
“On Sunday 30th December all of the upgrade work planned over Christmas will be in progress on this day, so you may want to choose an alternate date to travel instead.”
