Traffic in Westbury has proved an unlikely inspiration for a local music producer who has released a song on the issue to raise his concerns.
Tom Hendry, who performs under the name R.E.P and has lived in or around Westbury all his life, hopes his track The Westbury Traffic will help push the need for a bypass back onto the agenda.
Tom said, “Concerns about heavy traffic through the heart of Westbury have been voiced for years, but the recent roadworks, which temporarily closed the route through the town, brought the issue back into sharper focus for many residents.”
“When they closed off West End last month, I think it made many of us locally realise how different our little town would be without the terrible traffic issue we face daily.
“Hopefully, with the right support from the right people, this short track of my rhyming skills may at the very least bring the need for a bypass back to the top of the agenda.”
Over the course of 2025, Tom (artist name R.E.P) has produced two full albums of rhyming poetry, both available to stream on Soundcloud. In February, he released an 11-track album, Tomfoolery, which reflects on recent events in his life, including his decision to stop drinking alcohol last October. His second album, Second Nature, features 15 tracks with spiritual and philosophical themes, along with stories that touch on subjects such as romance, fact and comedy.
He has also had success as a dance music producer, with European label DNZ Records releasing his track, Out of My Mind.
