It’s been all systems go at Meadow Lane recently with the pitch, changing rooms and a new treatment facility all up and running in readiness for the new season.
The club reports that several new signings have arrived, most notably Jamie Jordan and Jordan Pinder.
“The first friendly takes place this coming Saturday, 16th July, with the visit of Weymouth Reserves at 3pm, followed by the visits of Pewsey Vale, Downton and Melksham Reserves. Please see the list for all dates/times.
“Meanwhile, the Toolstation League Division One fixtures are yet to be released (season start date is Saturday 6th August). The League have to await not only the FA Cup and FA Vase fixtures, but also the Southern League fixtures due to Chippenham Park ground sharing with Chippenham Town.
“Westbury United have a home draw in the FA Vase First Qualifying Round versus Folland Sports who play in the Wessex League Division One. The winners of that tie will play at home to the winners of the all Western Premier tie between Bridport and Cribbs. Unfortunately despite meeting ground grading and charter standard criteria the club, along with a number of others nationwide, have not been accepted into the FA Cup.
“Several other opponents are already known, with Westbury facing a trip to Cheddar in the Western League’s Les Phillips Cup. However potentially the second biggest (after the Warminster derby!) match of the season will take place on Saturday 8th October at 4pm when United will host league newcomers Malmesbury Victoria as part of the league’s ground hop weekend. Last season’s Saturday evening fixture at Keynsham was a huge success as part of the inaugural ground hop and the club was keen to be a host for the coming season’s weekend.”
