Westbury belied their lowly position to come from behind and spring a huge surprise against 4th placed Wincanton!
They produced for a full 90 minutes the kind of performance which has been reserved for only the 2nd half of too many matches.
However Town were dominant early in the game and, after several chances had gone begging due to good saves by Callum Hotine, they took the lead through a Mike Taylor penalty on 15 minutes after Hotine had fouled Lee Gale.
United hauled themselves into the match and play became end to end with Brett Partner prominent on the left wing. Visiting keeper Jonny Hill did well to deny Sam Clift while at the other end Gale forced Hotine into another save.
It was Partner who set up the equaliser on 42 when a fine move led to him crossing into the box where the ball was headed into his own net by visiting defender Gary Chapman!
A thrilling 2nd half saw chances at both ends; Westbury put together several pacy attacks involving Jordan Mathews, Clift and Partner while a Mark Young corner forced a goalmouth scramble where a few efforts were blocked. When Wincanton got forward Hotine comfortably saved from Jack Mitchell.
United stepped up the pace with quarter of an hour to play and Tony McElhone got on the end of another good move and forced Hill into a great fingertip save; Partner took the resulting corner which was met by a bullet header from Marc Scammell to give Westbury a 2-1 lead.
The lead was short-lived though as Gale broke through and was fortunate to see his effort blocked by Hotine then ricochet into the net off his body.
At this point you would have expected the promotion chasing side to go all out for victory, but to their great credit Westbury went forward again, and Mathews forced a shooting opportunity, but put the ball over the bar, then Callum Cooper tried a long range volley which flew inches wide. Then with just a few minutes remaining it was Clift who burst into the box and produced a fine finish to win the points!
