Weds. 12th Dec. Wiltshire Senior Cup QF – Westbury United 7 Purton 0
Westbury produced a crushing victory against their Wiltshire League opponents, to advance into the semi-finals where they will meet Salisbury City, Swindon Supermarine or Laverstock & Ford.
Demkiv was fouled inside the box and a penalty awarded, which Kovacs despatched with ease, to open the scoring on 11 minutes.
Westbury doubled their lead in fortuitous circumstances on 39. Ed Baldy’s long wind assisted kick was terribly fluffed by Wells, allowing Kovacs a tap-in for his second of the evening.
The Purton keeper made a fine parrying save to deny Joe Stradling, but was helpless as Ricky Hulbert powered a header into the top corner to make it 3-0. Substitute Will Stead had 2 assists in just a few minutes to set up goals 4 and 5 on 74 and 77. Firstly he received the ball from fellow sub George Bendle’s first touch and crossed from the right to Stradling, who hit a spectacular overhead. Then he played a quality set-piece to Kovacs, who netted his hattrick goal with ease. The 6th goal came on 81 when Demkiv played the ball to Stradling and he rifled in his 2nd. Then, with Purton looking fed up, Ricky Hulbert powered the 7th and his own 2nd from the edge of the box on 87.
