THE Westbury Yarn Bombers have been busy over the past month decorating the little free library at the Heron Rise housing estate in Westbury.
Newland Homes approached the Westbury Yarn Bombers to ask them to decorate the little free library that was built by members of the Westbury Shed, with Newland Homes covering the cost of the crochet supplies as well as donating £100 to a charity of the Yarn Bombers choice.
The idea behind the little free library is that when you take a book from the library, you leave one behind for someone else to enjoy and it becomes a resource for the whole community.
Marisa Befoh of the Westbury Yarn Bombers explained, “Newland Homes very kindly donated £100 to Age UK as promised – I chose this charity as I previously managed to get my employer, Center Parcs, to agree to donate £500 to the community youth organisation 4Youth South West through their generous community fund and so I thought to donate to the other part of life in Age UK.”
Age UK says, “This amazing donation will help us to continue to be there for older people when they need us. As a small local charity, our life-changing work would not be possible without our wonderful supporters and your help is hugely appreciated – thank you so much!”
