Westbury is to host a jam-packed calendar of summer events including fayres, festivals and charity fundraisers, which will showcase live music, great food, arts and crafts, exhibitions and children’s activities.
Kicking off the summer programme is the Westbury Lions Club 9th Annual Donkey Derby on Sunday 29th June at the White Horse Country Park. Family-friendly attractions this year will include a funfair and bouncy castle, mini railway, coconut shy, tote and lots of stalls provided by local charities and businesses – as well as the popular donkey derby races themselves. In addition, there will be a fully licensed bar, hot food as well as the old favourites such as candy floss, sweets and popcorn for the children.
Westbury’s Street Fayre on Saturday 12th July will include street entertainers, funfair rides, food stalls, pony rides, a mobile zoo including exotic animals, inflatables, a miniature railway and more. This event will be taking place throughout the town centre from 10.00am until 4.00pm, culminating in an evening of musical entertainment from 6.00pm until midnight.
The evening event will include local bands and performers plus “Abba Fever” a popular tribute band playing all the hits from the Swedish group. For further information, contact Westbury Town Council on 01373 822232.
New to the Westbury events calendar this year is ‘The Pudsey Family Fun Day’ with children’s rides, stalls, live entertainment, music and more, whilst raising money for BBC Children In Need. This event will take place on Saturday 19th July at Oval Peugeot, West Wilts Trading Estate, Westbury from 10.00am until 4.00pm. For further information contact Nigel Hemmens on 07779 919969.
