WESTBURY Court welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress of Westbury to its Wishing Well Extravaganza after earlier this month.
The care home celebrated Wishing Well Month in March, giving it the opportunity to showcase the Wishing Wells to residents, their families and the community.
Activities coordinator, Suzanne said, “Right from the beginning we try to get an understanding of our residents, finding out about their life story and getting to know the things they would really like to do via our ‘Wishing Well Programme’ so that we can help make their wishes a reality.
“We were lucky enough to be joined by the Mayor of Westbury Stephen Andrews and his wife Mary, which was an honour.
“The afternoon was spent listening and singing along to a variety of familiar songs, followed by afternoon tea for everyone.
“That same afternoon we were also able to grant a wish for our resident Irene, who was born in Wales and has fond memories of making Welsh cakes, bara brith and going to the local bakery to buy lardy cake for her grandparents.
“We were lucky enough to have Steve Jones, a friend of our in-post manager, cook both Welsh cakes and bara brith especially for Irene, who had a special afternoon tea with her family around her.”
